Description

Mi Testimonio deja Huella’ is a workshop of symbolic reparation for women, indigenous, Afro-descendant and transgender victims of sexual violence that took place in June 2022 in Fragmentos, Espacio de Arte y Memoria. This initiative was carried out in partnership with the Network Red de Mujeres Víctimas y Profesionales, the Investigation and Indictment Unit of the JEP and the Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the National University of Colombia.

This process of public recognition of their status as victims of sexual violence represented a process of mutual learning about the intersection between wartime sexual violence and ethnic, sexual, gender and social identities. These initiatives foster crucial dialogues on armed conflict, victims’ memory and peacebuilding, thus contributing to restoring dignity and promoting citizen participation to forge a more peaceful and inclusive society.

The artist Doris Salcedo designed this art workshop, using 3120 red roses, which seeks to contribute to the reparation of historical injustices and inequalities as a result of the conflict, highlighting that victims of sexual violence deserve dignity and respect. This act served as a tribute to the courage of those who dare to speak out publicly about this heinous crime.
